A serious incident occurred on Sergey Sobyanin’s well-known project — the Moscow Central Circle (MCC). On January 30, a platform at Nizhegorodskaya station collapsed due to the cold, according to some metro employees. Preliminary reports suggest the station will be closed for at least six months.

According to workers, problems at the site have existed for a long time: during construction in 2015–2020, deadlines were repeatedly missed, then attempts were made to catch up with accelerated schedules, and reports of massive embezzlement and violations constantly surfaced around the project.

These significant operational issues come amid already well-known concerns about the quality of project implementation, which has long been used as one of the city’s key PR projects.
